Format: Paperback, 370 Pages
Genre: Fantasy | Young Adult

Disclosure: I recently purchased this book myself and was not asked to review it by anyone. Doing so is solely my personal choice. All opinions in this review are my own and represent my honest thoughts on the book.

One terrible morning, Jude and her sisters see their parents murdered in front of them. The fearsome assassin abducts all three girls and brings them to the world of Faerie. Mocked and tormented for being merely mortal, Jude soon realizes that to survive in the treacherous, dangerous world of the royal court, she needs to be as cunning and deceitful as the Fey themselves.

But the stairway to power is fraught with shadows and betrayal. And looming over all is the arrogant and charismatic Prince Cardan.

Absolute favorite! Everyone should read it!

Such a beautifully written book. It’s a compelling read with the right amount of drama, emotions, hatred and the slightest hint of romance. Holly definitely knows what her audience wants and then gives extra.

The characters in this novel are breathtaking. Main characters, Jude (a fierce mortal raised in Faerie World) and Prince Cardan (the snobbish prince of Faerie Land) were so enchanting and well-developed throughout the novel. I also found General Madoc, Taryn and Vivien equally interesting. It is difficult to like any character completely because they are all flawed, extremely complex and not at all trustworthy. You’ll see that this is not entirely a negative thing.

The plot twists will leave you in awe. And let’s not even talk about the cliffhanger end or for that matter, the brutal opening scene! The drama is too delicious to stay away from. There was nothing in this book that I could predict. Everything (even the bullying and the politics) seemed fresh. The novel is very well paced and it truly is difficult to put it down.

I’m being extra careful in writing this review because I do not wish to spoil it for you. The beauty of the novel can only be experienced by reading it. Holly completely captivated me and I was fully immersed in it. Magic started to feel like it’s real. It made me remember why I enjoy reading with the play of words that touched me in a serene way. I’ve never been this eager to read a sequel ever!

#2 The Wicked King

Format: Paperback, 322 Pages
Genre: Fantasy | Young Adult

Jude has bound the wicked king, Cardan, to her, and made herself the power behind the throne. Navigating the constantly shifting political alliances of Faerie would be difficult enough if Cardan were biddable. But he does everything in his power to humiliate and undermine her, even as his fascination with her remains undiminished.

When it becomes all too clear that someone close to Jude means to betray her, threatening her life and the lives of everyone she loves, Jude must uncover the traitor and fight her own complicated feelings for Cardan to maintain control as a mortal in a faerie world.

Absolute favorite! Everyone should read it!

Okay, I honestly don’t know what to say. I’ve rarely come across a series that consistently delivers awesomeness. Well, this one does! This book = Everything I felt in The Cruel Prince * 10! I’m not sure how will my days pass until the third installment is released. Dear Holly, have mercy!

The ending literally killed me! I was NOT expecting that at all. Everything from the drama, the poisonous politics, the hatred, the torture, is to the next level. This is the best sequel there ever could have been. So nicely tied up, which I’m sure is not an easy task when there are so many characters in a novel.

The shocking plot twists and betrayal kept me gripped. I could not stop myself from turning the pages, it was impossible! I really could have used a bit more of Cardan pages in the novel. I feel he doesn’t come up very often. Although, this one shows him in a different light, especially towards the end. A true royalty!

Also, I cannot decide whether I like Jude or not. No, I like her, I think. See! This book takes me inside her mind in the deepest corners. And I’m left as confused as she is. I would love to see a ruthless, unapologetic version of Jude in The Queen Of Nothing. She needs to show the fey how cunning she can be.

The sexual tension between the two is exhausting and yet, exhilarating. I loved the parts where the undersea were involved. So very captivating. Another good thing about this book was that there were not as many scenes as in The Cruel Prince which made me more attached to the characters and the story.

What else can I say, wake me up when 2020 comes…

#3 The Queen Of Nothing

The Queen Of Nothing
The Queen Of Nothing
Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold onto. Jude learned this lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power.

Now as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is powerless and left reeling from Cardan’s betrayal. She bides her time determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her deceptive twin sister, Taryn, whose mortal life is in peril.

Jude must risk venturing back into the treacherous Faerie Court, and confront her lingering feelings for Cardan, if she wishes to save her sister. But Elfhame is not as she left it. War is brewing. As Jude slips deep within enemy lines she becomes ensnared in the conflict’s bloody politics.

And, when a dormant yet powerful curse is unleashed, panic spreads throughout the land, forcing her to choose between her ambition and her humanity…

Review will be up as soon as the book releases and I read it.
