Hello my beautiful bookworms! I’m here with my Mini Reviews of Audiobooks series for May. Length: 2 hrs 25 mins
Release Date: 31 January, 2019

Kristen Leonard is done with setups. She’s not interested in your son or your nephew or your butcher or the guy who mows your lawn, thank you very much, grandma! After all, she’s a modern woman—she’ll take her chances on the algorithms of online dating to find her ideal man. Before long, she meets a man who might just be the one—he’s hilarious, quick-witted, and full of heart. And when she meets up with Cameron in real life, he certainly looks exactly like his profile picture…but something’s not quite right.

There’s really no telling what brought them together and all bets are off as to whether or not they can trust their hearts over their heads. After all, can you fall in love with someone you’re not sure you really even know?

I loved it, and would recommend it to others.

Review

Lucky Suit is a short story and after a long time I found a book that I felt was too short and craved for it to be a little longer. Nonetheless, it did not take away from the charm and the swoon-worthy story. I loved the characters and in such a short time I was invested in them. Kristen and Cameron are both absolutely adorable while Jeannie is one spunky lady! This is one of the best cute romances with excellent narration.

Lucky Suit was a pleasure to listen to. Apparently the characters are from Lauren’s other book called Birthday Suit and now I want to get that audiobook too. If you’re on the lookout for something short, fun and light with a beautiful story-line, I highly recommend Lucky Suit.

Pampered heiress Georgianna Watkins has a party-girl image to maintain, but all the shopping and clubbing is starting to feel a little bit hollow – and a whole lot lonely. Though Georgie would never admit it, the highlights of her week are the mornings when she comes home at the same time as her uptight, workaholic neighbor is leaving to hit the gym and put in a long day at the office. Teasing him is the most fun Georgie’s had in years – and the fuel for all her naughtiest daydreams.

Celebrity divorce attorney Andrew Mulroney doesn’t have much time for women, especially spoiled tabloid princesses who spend more time on Page Six than at an actual job. Although Georgie’s drop-dead gorgeous, she’s also everything Andrew resents: the type of girl who inherited her penthouse instead of earning it. But after Andrew caps one of their predawn sparring sessions with a surprise kiss – a kiss that’s caught on camera – all of Manhattan is gossiping about whether they’re a real couple. And nobody’s more surprised than Andrew to find that the answer just might be yes.

Absolute favorite! Everyone should read it!

Review

The cutest rom-com I have come across in a while and would actually love to see it in the big screen. The plot is of a sweet romance when Georgianna and Andrew share intense passion and love for each other. While Andrew is a cynicalcelebrity lawyer, Georgianna is an extremely funny, caring and often misunderstood New York socialite.

“If you’re wondering what Andrew Mulroney looks like while he’s in workout mode, picture this: Thor and Captain America somehow defeat biology and have a love child together. And call him Andrew. You’re welcome for the visual.”

– Lauren Layne, Walk of Shame

I think the story could not have been told better and the writing was just as perfect. Read this and I am certain you will not be disappointed. You might actually find yourself laughing out loud many a times because it is that witty and full of humor.

After her boyfriend runs off to a Buddhist monastery, Molly is stuck with an extra ticket for a bed-and-breakfast trip through the Scottish Highlands. Not wanting to waste the fare, she sells it in an online auction…where it’s bought by a man from her past. Now she’s stuck rooming with the guy who broke her heart – someone she’s never been able to forget.

When Alex arrives in Scotland and discovers that he unknowingly purchased a romantic getaway with his ex-girlfriend, he knows he should walk away. Spending two weeks at a bed-and-breakfast in the Scottish Highlands with his beautiful, spirited ex is a terrible idea. He came to Scotland with one goal in mind – to win an elite photojournalism competition – and Molly is a distraction he can’t afford.

But as the stunning Scottish Highlands weaves its magic, Alex’s and Molly’s hearts begin to open once again. Can they let go of their past for the second shot of a lifetime?

Rating

I enjoyed it, but wouldn’t read it again.

Review

Another sweet romance where ex-lovers happen to meet again by chance. Although the book was very well written and the narration was decent, I thought it was a little predictable. It did have heat, emotion, romance and a slight humor but it did not capture my heart completely. It is an enjoyable gentle and simple love story and would be perfect to spend a few hours on.

The ending was cliché but overall there were parts in this book that will touch your heart. If you decide to go for it, don’t expect too much out of it.

#4 If I Only Knew by Corinne Michaels

Title: If I Only Knew
Author: Corinne Michaels

Narrators: Sophie Eastlake, Shane East
Length: 7 hrs 21 mins
Release Date: 26 October, 2018
Format: Audiobook
Genre: Romance | Contemporary

My life was perfect – until a shocking tragedy pulled the rug out from underneath me.

My children were left without a father. I was without a husband and a provider. Instead of wallowing in my grief, I buried myself in my work at Dovetail Enterprises. Landing the promotion as the CEO’s right hand was exactly what I needed.

Getting saddled with Milo Huxley as an assistant is exactly the opposite.

I can’t stand him.

He’s arrogant, irresponsible, and out for my job. As if that’s not bad enough, he has to be devastatingly sexy, and have a posh English accent that makes me squirm on top of it all. I’ve had enough unpredictability for one lifetime, thank you.

But soon enough, we’re fighting less and laughing more. He’s there for me when no one else is. And those good looks aren’t the only panty-dropping thing about him.

If I only knew what to do about it….

I loved it, and would recommend it to others.

Review

If I only knew had everything that I love about romance novels. I was hooked from the very beginning. The plot was endearing with emotions, drama, heartache, love and friendship. The story was very real and believable.

I loved both Danielle and Milo and how their relationship turned from hate to love. I admired Danielle’s strength after losing her husband in a tragic way and then adjusting to life as a single mother. The bond that Danielle shares with her girlfriends is something every woman should experience.

The narrators have done a great job. Although I didn’t like when they were trying each other’s accents, that seemed just off. But when they were delivering their own dialogues and narrating their part of the story, it was done very well. I definitely recommend this to all romance lovers and I will be sure to read more of Corinne’s books.
